LITCHFIELD PARK, AZ - A Valley couple is accused of removing campaign signs in their neighborhood.
Robert and Anne Robertson allegedly removed campaign signs throughout their community during the recent Litchfield Park City Council elections.
City officials told ABC15 the candidates began to notice their signs were disappearing. That's when authorities began an undercover detail, which led to the arrest of the Robertsons.
The case is now working its way through the court system. Records show the couple told police they were removing the signs in an effort to pick up trash in their neighborhood near Litchfield and Indian School Roads.
"In meeting both of them…I wouldn't expect them to do anything like that," said neighbor Bob Densford.
The couple did not return calls to ABC15 for comment.
The two are due back in court in July. Each faces several counts of altering or destroying a political sign, a misdemeanor.
