LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, AZ - Citing budget concerns, Luke Air Force base announced Friday they are cancelling the "Storm on the Horizon" air show scheduled for March.
"While I value the importance of this event to both the Air Force and our local community, given the budgetary pressures and expected repercussions if sequestration goes into effect, we need to cancel this year's Luke Days," said 56th Fighter Wing commander Brig. Gen. Michael Rothstein.
According to a press release, Luke is taking additional steps to cut costs. This includes deferring non-mission critical repairs and reducing flying not directly related to pilot training.
Officials said no future Open Houses have been set.
