A Laveen man is facing charges in connection with the disappearance of his ex-wife.

Dalen Payne Ware was arrested Friday in Arizona on suspicion of murder and is currently being held at 4th Avenue Jail.

His arrest comes after, 37-year-old Julia Jacobson, a San Diego Army veteran, was reported missing Sept. 2.

Jacobson’s car was found abandoned in University Heights, a San Diego neighborhood, after she was reported missing. The car was unlocked and the windows were rolled down.

Forensic evidence from the car indicate Jacobson had been murdered, however, the exact details have not been released, investigators said.

During the search for Jacobson, authorities were led to Ontario, Calif. It's unknown what led authorities to Ontario during the search.

Ware will eventually be transferred to the San Bernardino County West Valley Detention Center — likely sometime this week.

Jacobson and her Wheaten Terrier, Boogie, have not been located.

Jacobson is described as being as being 5'7", 150 pounds, blonde hair and brown eye. Boogie is about 42 pounds.

Anyone with information about Jacobson's whereabouts is urged to call the San Diego Missing Persons Unit at 619-531-2277.

In an interview with CrimeWatch Daily, Julia's older sister, Casey Jacobson, says Julia and Ware met in Denver and got married. Their marriage didn't last very long though.

"He never really had gainful employment and she was tired of supporting him," said Casey.

Ware reportedly played football in 1999 with Arizona State. According to the team's website, he played special teams and appeared in nine games recording three tackles.
