Armored truck involved in Laveen crash, 4 treated by officials

LAVEEN, AZ - Four people are being treated  after a serious-injury crash in Laveen.

Air15 video showed an armored truck and pick-up truck involved in the crash near 51st Avenue and Elliot Road on Tuesday morning.

According to Phoenix police, the armored truck was traveling southbound when it veered into oncoming traffic and hit the pick-up truck.

The driver of the pick-up truck sustained critical injuries. Two teens inside the vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The family’s dog was inside the dog but appeared to be unharmed. The dog was taken to the Arizona Humane Society until the family can pick him up.

The driver of the armored vehicle and passenger were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Police believe a possible cause of the crash is inattention. The armored truck driver may have been looking for the location for his next stop, police said.

Impairment does not appear to be a factor.

The area is closed to traffic. Please consider an alternate route.
