LAVEEN, AZ - Authorities responded to a home fire in Phoenix early Saturday morning.
Phoenix fire said crews responded to reports of a two-story house fire near 51st Avenue and Dobbins Road in Laveen Village around 4:30 a.m.
Officials said the roof of the home collapsed as firefighters were entering to search for occupants. This forced crews to use a "defensive strategy" involving shooting water from a ladder truck to fight the blaze.
Fire crews said no one was home during the blaze. Neighbors reported that the family of six left the home around 8 p.m. Friday.
No firefighters were injured while battling the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
