Teens get a taste of law enforcement at Goodyear Teen Police Academy

GOODYEAR, AZ - The Goodyear Police Department is offering teens an insider's look at law enforcement through a one-week summer program.

The program is geared toward teens that may be interested in a career in criminal justice, according to a police press release.

The Teen Police Academy Training is for high school students 14 to 18 years of age.

A few of the topics of instruction include working mock crime scenes, firearms safety and training, criminal street gangs, SWAT, K9 and drug awareness.

The one-week program begins July 8 through July 12 and a second one runs from July 15-19.

Classes meet from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The cost is $50, which covers a police polo shirt, some lunches, fun day and the graduation ceremony.

Class size is limited to 30 participants and the deadline to register is June 1.
