Police say they have arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly shooting his mother in Goodyear on Tuesday morning.
At 3 a.m., police responded to a report of a woman who had been shot near 152nd Avenue and Camelback Road.
The woman was taken to the hospital after suffering non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say after officers arrived on the scene, two other people inside the house came out unharmed.
The Goodyear SWAT team established a perimeter and a K-9 unit cleared the home, but did not immediately locate a suspect.
After further investigation, police learned the estranged son of the victim, Gabriel Anthony Torres, was a person of interest.
Upon interviewing Torres and serving search warrants, he was arrested and booked into jail on attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and burglary in the first degree.
Torres is being held on a $250,000 bond.
