Goodyear to try and break world record for largest Soul Train line dance

GOODYEAR, AZ - Want to be a part of an Independence Day world-record attempt?

The city of Goodyear hopes to break the Guinness World Record for the largest Soul Train dance. The record attempt will happen during the city's 9th annual Star Spangled Fourth of July Celebration at Goodyear Ballpark tonight.

Dancers will be instructed to head down to the field at 7 p.m. The music will start at 7:30 p.m. It's important to note that only two dancers will be allowed to dance together along the Soul Train line, according to sponsors.

The current record is set by the Philadelphia Soul Line Dancers with featured 291 people. That record was set on Feb. 13, 2012 at the Philadelphia Art Museum. It took 3 1/2 hours to complete, according to a press release.

Last year, the city broke the record for most people wearing a fake mustache. A record-setting 1,957 people showed up wearing a fake mustache.

Admission to the event is free, as well as parking.
