Goodyear police arrest 'door-kick' burglary suspects

GOODYEAR, AZ - Two men are in custody, accused of a string of home burglaries in Goodyear.

Agustin Bobby Ortega, 24, was located by the U.S. Marshal's Office and taken into custody with the help of Goodyear K9 and Criminal Investigations Unit Tuesday morning after barricading himself in a Phoenix home.

A second suspect, 36-year-old Jimmy D. Guzman, had already been arrested and charged with burglary and parole violations.

Several items suspected to be stolen from the burglarized homes in Goodyear and other Valley cities were recovered from the Phoenix home where Ortega was taken into custody. The items included electronics, guns and victims' identifications.

Authorities pursued Ortega on May 31 after spotting a vehicle matching the burglary suspect vehicle, according to Goodyear police spokeswoman Lisa Kutis. The pursuit ended with Ortega ditching the Dodge Dakota pickup truck near 16th and Portland streets in Phoenix.

Police searched into the night without finding Ortega.

The registered owner of the vehicle, Thomas Carrasco, was questioned and released pending further investigation.

U.S. Marshals found Ortega on Tuesday, June 4, barricaded in a house near where he fled from the vehicle on Friday.

No further suspects remain at large in this case, Kutis said.
