A Goodyear man was sentenced Monday to 25 years in prison for the 2013 murders of his wife and adult son.

Authorities say Eugene Maraventano feared that he gave his wife HIV and worried about what his jobless son would make of his life.

He pleaded guilty a month ago to murder in the deaths of Janet Maraventano and Bryan Adam Maraventano at the Goodyear home that all three shared.

He told investigators he worried he gave his wife of 25 years HIV through the prostitutes he used to frequent when he worked for a rail line in New York.

He wondered what would become of his adult son and explained that Bryan Maraventano played video games all day and had no girlfriend or job.
