PHOENIX - A Goodyear girl admitted Tuesday that she made up her story of a man trying to abduct her on her way to school last week, according to a police report.
The Westar Elementary School student told police that a man in a white van tried to abduct her on Friday. The 12-year-old has now admitted that her report was false, police said.
The girl told police the man was about 55 years old, 6 feet tall and had grey receding hair, a mustache and a goatee. Her school was put on lockdown as a result of her report, and parents were allowed to pick up their children early.
No one witnessed the attempted abduction.
The girl's case will be given to the Juvenile County Attorney for review, police said.
