GOODYEAR, AZ - A house in Goodyear was evacuated Wednesday night after the homeowners received a suspicious package with white powder inside.
Fire Department spokesman Russ Braden said the family was asked to leave their home near Cotton Lane and Interstate 17 while hazardous materials crews took readings and samples of the powder.
Crews told ABC15 the homeowners received a padded envelope-type package in the mail. It was addressed to them, but it had no return address so they didn't know who it was from.
They opened the package with gloved hands and found clothes inside. They reached in to see if there was a note or anything else inside, and the glove had a minimal amount of white powder residue on it.
Hazmat crews determined the white substance was not hazardous. The homeowners were allowed back in their home around 9:15 p.m.
