Drug lab prompts evacuation of Goodyear apartments

GOODYEAR, AZ - Authorities in Goodyear say the discovery of an illegal drug lab in an apartment complex prompted the evacuation of eight units and resulted in one arrest.

Police say officers responding to a call Wednesday about an acidic odor at the Desert Safe Apartment Complex near Interstate 10 and Dysart Road. They found a flammable chemical substance in an apartment.

Eight units in the complex were evacuated, and a state drug-trafficking task force took over the investigation. That resulted in the arrest of  21-year-old Joshua Todd Miller on drug charges.

The evacuated residents were cleared to return at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.
