Woman arrested in Glendale in identity theft case

GLENDALE, AZ - A woman has been accused of identity theft after Glendale police found personal information on nearly 390 different people in the car she was riding in.

Police say 47-year-old Shawna Ross is being held on suspicion of aggravated identity theft, forgery and trafficking in the identity of another.

Ross was a passenger in a car that was stopped Thursday.

Inside the vehicle, officers reported finding multiple forged checks, stolen driver's licenses, stolen social security cards, copies of several individual tax returns and multiple pages of blank checks and personal identifying information on 388 people.

Police say Ross could possibly be connected to a series of recent burglaries from vehicles at hiking trails around Phoenix.

They say some of the information found in the car Ross was in matched burglary victims.
