GLENDALE, AZ - What started as a small food pantry at a school in Glendale has turned into a big project to help feed hungry families in the Valley.
Students at Heritage Elementary have been collecting food and goods through fundraisers, food drives and grants for the past five years, but recently they haven't been able to keep up with the growing need.
In August they reached out to St. Mary's Food Bank for help.
After months of coordinating, the students are now able to feed hundreds of families fresh produce right from the school and they're eager to help.
On the fourth Monday of every month the food bank boxes up fresh produce, bread and other goods and trucks it over to the school.
The students hand it out to anyone who needs it from 1 p.m. -2:30 p.m.
If you're in need of a little help, you can stop by Heritage Elementary at 5312 W. Mountain View Road.
You can also donate items at the school during business hours.
