GLENDALE, AZ - A Glendale mom spent the day Saturday spreading her message about the dangers of drinking and driving, while collecting toys in memory of her daughter.
Taunya Strocchio's daughter, 3-year-old Ellianna, was killed in an accident in 2009.
The suspect was allegedly driving 92 mph in a 45 mph zone during a run for beer and already had a warrant for a previous DUI.
Ellianna was strapped into a car seat that had been installed by Glendale firefighters but she was unable to survive the injuries she sustained in the crash.
Since then, Strocchio has been volunteering and working with the Governor's Office of Highway Safety.
On Saturday, she worked with the Glendale Police Department to fill up their DUI van with toys and supplies for children in need.
Strocchio talked about the increase in DUI-related accidents this time of year.
All the items collected Saturday will go to the Crisis Nursery and the Glen Family Advocacy Center.
