'Teens Drive Smart' tour teaches teens the dangers of distracted driving

GLENDALE, AZ - Teens are getting a unique driving experience at the University of Phoenix Stadium Saturday morning.

Bridgestone is hosting its annual "Drive Smart Tour " with professional race car drivers.

The event gives kids hands on experiences in controlling a car in difficult driving situations like spin outs.

"The kids get to drive BMWs," said instructor Matt Jaskol.  "This is not just your average safe driving course."

Jaskol gave us a sample of what they will experience, taking our car through turns at at high speeds while also maneuvering obstacles.

The courses are also designed to teach teens to understand driving principles and the dangers of distracted driving, such as texting or talking on the phone.

The course is free.   The first session starts at 8:00 a.m. Saturday with another at 1:00 p.m.    Two sessions are scheduled for Sunday, one at 8:00 a.m. and the other at 1:00 p.m.
