Suspect, victim named in deadly Glendale crash

GLENDALE, AZ - A Glendale man has been arrested following a deadly accident that occurred last weekend.

Shane Michaelis, 33, was booked into the Glendale City Jail after he was released from a local hospital.

A motorcyclist killed in the accident has been identified as 23-year-old Jeremy Vincent. Vincent died at the scene, according to police.

Glendale police say the accident occurred around 7 p.m. on Sunday near 67th and Missouri avenues when a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Michaelis collided with the rear of the motorcyclist preparing to make a left turn onto Missouri Avenue.

Michaelis allegedly tried to flee the scene but was involved in another collision a short distance away, stopped the vehicle and tried to flee on foot.

He was held by witnesses until Glendale police arrived on scene.

There were no injuries in the second collision.

Michaelis was taken to a local hospital and booked into jail upon his release.

Police say it is believed Michaelis was impaired.

The Glendale Police Department Vehicular Crimes Unit is continuing the investigation.
