GLENDALE, AZ - The names of the suspect and police officers involved in a deadly shooting in Glendale on Friday have been released.
The Glendale Police Department said the three Phoenix police detectives who fired their weapons were Det. David Thwing, a 12-year veteran officer, Det. Bill Behm, a 20-year veteran officer, and Det. Brandon Cozad, a 9-year veteran officer.
The suspect has been identified as 62-year-old William Boyd Plant of Phoenix.
Glendale police said the three detectives, all members of the fugitive apprehension squad, were trying to contact Plant, who had several felony warrants.
When Plant was confronted by detectives in a parking lot near 43rd and Olive avenues Friday afternoon the suspect turned on them quickly, in an aggressive manner, and produced an object that appeared to be a firearm, Glendale police said.
Feeling threatened, all three Phoenix police detectives fired their duty weapons at the suspect striking him, authorities said.
Plant was treated and pronounced deceased at the scene by Glendale fire paramedics.
Glendale police said no additional information would be released at this time.
