GLENDALE, AZ - Hall of Fame pitcher Sandy Koufax, 78, was hit in the head by a foul ball during a Los Angeles Dodgers batting practice at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, according to an ESPN report.
Players warned Koufax the foul ball was heading his way, but he was unable to react in time and the ball struck him on the left side of his head, the report says.
Koufax was carted off to the clubhouse and his head was bleeding. He was seen smiling, but no further information on his condition is known at this time.
Koufax was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1972 and is currently a special assistant to Dodgers owner Mark Walter.
