GLENDALE, AZ - Police say a man in his 50s was killed while crossing a Glendale street Thursday night.
Glendale police Sgt. Jay O'Neill said the accident happened near 43rd and Peoria avenues around 7:20 p.m.
O'Neill said the preliminary investigation showed that the pedestrian was crossing from the north side of Peoria Avenue and was not in a crosswalk when he was struck by a westbound vehicle.
The victim was taken to the hospital where he died.
O'Neill said the driver of the vehicle was a man in his 30s who had his teenage daughter with him.
Neither speed nor impairment appear to be factors in the accident on the part of the driver, O'Neill said.
Peoria Avenue was closed between 43rd and 45th avenues in both directions for the investigation but reopened just after 11 p.m.
