PD: Pedestrians seriously injured in Glendale collision

GLENDALE, AZ - Police said two people were taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Glendale Wednesday night.

Glendale Sgt. Jay O'Nei said the accident happened around 7:20 p.m. near 51st and Glendale avenues.

Police told ABC15 a man and woman were crossing the street, outside any type of marked or unmarked crosswalk, when they were hit by a Toyota sedan.

Authorities said the 51-year-old man was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Crews said the 36-year-old woman was also hurt, but is expected to survive.

According to O'Neil, the 36-year-old driver of the Toyota remained at the scene.

Authorities said impairment does not appear to be a factor at this time.
