GLENDALE, AZ - Police have identified the man who was struck and killed in Glendale Monday night.
Glendale police spokeswoman Tracey Breeden said the accident happened around 6:15 p.m. near 47th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.
Breeden said 65-year-old Marcel Buyoya, who was not in a crosswalk, was struck by a pickup traveling westbound on Bethany Home Road.
The pickup driver, a man in his 50s, remained on scene. Police evaluated the man and said he showed no signs of impairment.
Buyoya was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead.
Bethany Home Road from 47th Avenue to 51st Avenue was closed for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
Breeden said the driver of the pickup has not been cited or charged at this time.
