PD: Glendale shooting occurred between Cardinals and Raiders fans

GLENDALE, AZ - Glendale police released more information concerning a man shot in the face in a parking lot near University of Phoenix Stadium Friday night.

The 57-year-old shooter, a Cardinals fan, was with his wife at the time and called 911 after the incident saying he had accidentally shot the victim, a 30-year-old male who appeared to be a Raiders fan.

Officer Tracey Breeden with said the incident began as an argument between the fans, both Arizona residents.

The shooter did not try to leave the scene, and the victim was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in stable condition with non life-threatening injuries.

The suspect in the case was taken into custody for questioning and released by detectives.

There has been absolutely no information obtained by investigators that would point to a specific conflict that occurred prior to the shooting that was as a result of their differing team support, according to police.
