Police say the victim in Wednesday night’s officer involved shooting has died.

The incident started near 67th Avenue and Camelback Road around 7:15 p.m. when police responded to calls of an armed person involved in a fight.

Officers found the suspect vehicle near 77th Avenue and Bethany Home Road in Glendale. Police say that when they arrived they were immediately met with gunfire.

Several officers immediately fired back at the suspect, 30-year-old Fernando Jaime.

Police say the suspect ran away on foot to an apartment complex nearby. The other person on scene, 25-year-old Ruben Cossyleon, that was fighting with Jaime was shot in the exchange and died Friday.

Jaime was arrested shortly after midnight, and was charged with four counts of aggravated assault against an officer, three charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and a kidnapping charge, MCSO said.

Police say he will now also be charged with homicide because of Cossyleon’s death.
