DPS arrested a 22-year-old motorcyclist Wednesday in a planned sting operation.

Noah Ling of El Mirage was known to troopers for riding well over 130 miles-per-hour.

DPS tried to catch him on multiple occasions, but when lights and sirens activated Ling would up his speeds and out-run the troopers.

On Wednesday, Ling is accused of driving his motorcycle erratically at high speeds on a Phoenix freeway.

“The thing you have to understand is that Mr. Ling was traveling on the highway during rush hour traffic in the morning with tens of thousands of motorists,” explained Captain Tim Mason. “A motorcycle at those speeds is a missile. It’s a bullet coming from a gun.”

Bond was set at $5,000 at his initial court appearance Thursday. Ling does not have an attorney yet.

Police say Ling has been seen driving his motorcycle on the shoulder area of the Loop 101 and splitting traffic at least five times in the past two months.

Ling also has allegedly run red lights and stop signs and evaded law enforcement vehicles in 100-mph pursuits as they tried to pull him over, authorities said.

Troopers finally arrested him outside his workplace on Wednesday morning. He’s being held in jail on multiple misdemeanors and felonies.

His next court appearance is a June 29 status conference.
