GLENDALE, AZ - An undercover Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office vehicle caught on fire Tuesday in Glendale.
According to MCSO, deputies were doing undercover surveillance training near 75th Avenue and Bethany Home Road in Glendale when they saw a home burglary in progress.
One deputy chased a suspect on foot and was able to take the suspect in custody. Two other suspects drove away in a silver SUV, MCSO said.
Another MCSO unit located the suspect’s vehicle and attempted to catch up with the vehicle when it got stuck in a ditch and caught fire.
The suspects were able to escape. Glendale police have taken over the investigation of the burglary and the suspect search.
There is no word if any deputies received injuries from the fire.
