A man accused in the death of a Glendale teenager over the sale of a video game has been declared mentally competent to stand trial.

A Maricopa County Superior Court commissioner made the ruling Tuesday in the case of 19-year-old Aaron Ott.

The Avondale resident was indicted by county grand jury on charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery in the April 17 killing of 16-year-old Miguel Navarro.

Ott initially entered not guilty pleas to both charges.

A witness told police a single shooter fled on foot before driving away in a car that was identified by multiple surveillance cameras. That eventually led authorities to Ott.

Police say Navarro was shot when he refused to give up the Xbox.

Ott's next scheduled court appearance is a Sept. 28 status conference.
