Irowood High School put on lockdown because of burglary

GLENDALE, AZ - Valley schools were on lockdown Friday while police searched for four suspects wanted for attempted burglary.

Glendale Police Officer Tracey J. Breeden said a man arrived at his home near 59th Avenue and Thunderbird Road around 11 a.m. to find four people attempting to burglarize his house.

When the homeowner confronted the burglars, they took off running, police say.

The four fled to their car and sped off while the homeowner attempted to follow.

The burglars reportedly crashed into a concrete barrier in a neighbor's yard and three of the suspects scattered on foot, police say.

Officers arrested the suspect in the car, put nearby schools, including Ironwood High School, on temporary lockdown and took two of the other suspects into custody.

A K-9 unit found the last suspect in a neighbor's backyard and took the suspect into custody.

Breeden said the investigation is ongoing.
