GLENDALE, AZ - A 21-year-old man is behind bars after being caught traveling 114 mph on Grand Avenue Wednesday morning.
Glendale police spokeswoman Tracey Breeden said a motorcycle officer working speed enforcement near 45th and Grand Avenues used his speed measuring device to clock the motorcyclist doing 114 mph.
Breeden said the officer was able to catch up Troy with Johnson at 35th Avenue after he used a lane that was closed for construction to pass cars stopped for a red light.
Johnson was booked into the Glendale City Jail on numerous misdemeanor traffic charges.
Breeden said Johnson told officers he was speeding because he was "late for work."
Authorities said Johnson was wearing a helmet, but he was not licensed to drive a motorcycle.
