Glendale interim police chief named to permanent position

GLENDALE, AZ - The interim Glendale police chief has been permanently appointed to the position, the city announced Tuesday.

Chief Debora Black, a seven-year veteran with the department, has been named the new police chief after being appointed to the interim role in March 2012.

Black began her law enforcement career 33 years ago with the Phoenix Police Department. She has a master's degree in Public Administration and an undergraduate degree from Arizona State University, according to a press release.

Three other interim employees were named to permanent positions Tuesday. Greg Rodzenko was named city engineer after serving several months as the interim engineer after the previous one retired.

Sam McAllen has been named the executive director of the Neighborhood and Human Services Department, and Jim Brown was appointed executive director of the Human Resources and Risk Management Department.
