Glendale hit-and-run suspects sought after man's death

GLENDALE - A 62-year-old man is dead after a hit-and-run accident Saturday night and Glendale officers are trying to find the suspect and vehicle in question.

According to Glendale Police, officers responded to a call about a person in the roadway around 11:30 p.m. When they arrived they found the 62-year-old man, Pete Rivas, near the 6000 block of W. Bethany Home Road. He had life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop, but went to a nearby Circle K gas station at 59th Avenue and W. Bethany Home Road to check his vehicle. The driver and vehicle then drove south on 59th Avenue.

Police say the vehicle is a white SUV, but are unsure of any other details.

The driver is described as a muscular black male around 30 years old with short, dark, and possibly braided hair.

Another black male was a passenger in the vehicle, police say.
