Glendale car fire extends into townhome, destroys 2 cars

GLENDALE, AZ - Officials in Glendale say a vehicle that caught on fire in a parking carport extended into a townhouse unit Wednesday morning.

The fire happened near 45th and Maryland avenues around 1:30 a.m.

A husband and wife who were in the home were able to safely get out before fire crews arrived, according to officials.  

The two cars in the carport were destroyed, and the displaced family will be staying with relatives in a nearby home.

No other information was released.
