GLENDALE, AZ - Over 400 workers will be returning to their jobs at Luke Air Force Base starting Monday, an official said.
The order to return to work came down Sunday morning, according to the public affairs office at the Glendale facility.
The civilian workers' back pay was passed by Congress and signed two days ago.
Four hundred and twelve employees were furloughed because of the government shutdown that took effect last Tuesday.
On Wednesday a group of furloughed workers protested outside the base.
The civilian employees account for 10 percent of the air force base's 4,830 employees.
Military personnel continued to get paid and officials said F-16 flying operations continued.
