GLENDALE, AZ - A maintenance worker shot and killed at a Glendale apartment complex Tuesday is being praised as a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
According to Glendale police, 50-year-old Douglas Elliot of Peoria was working at the complex near 67th Avenue and Bethany Home Road when he was shot.
Officers responded to the scene after getting a call around 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Elliot was treated at the complex but later died at a local hospital.
His son told ABC15 he's still in the dark about what happened.
He said Elliot was the head supervisor and started working at the complex three months ago.
Police said witnesses reported seeing two male suspects flee the scene in a black, older model Cadillac sedan before officers arrived.
One of the suspects may have sustained an injury during the incident, according to police.
Anyone with information about the case is urged to call Glendale police at 623-930-3399 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
ABC15's Lauren Vargas is sitting down with Elliot's family and will have more on ABC15 News at 5 p.m.
