Family and friends remember fallen Glendale Officer as a family man and public servant

GLENDALE, AZ - A memorial is growing at 75th and Glendale avenues where Officer Brad Jones was fatally shot Friday night .

Police say Jones and a probation officer were meeting 20-year-old Ryan Heisler and that Heisler shot and killed Jones before taking his patrol car. Jones died hours later at a Valley hospital.

The 27-year-old officer, a 2004 graduate from Centennial High School in Peoria, was on the wrestling team and always wanted to give back to his community.  His uncle tells us Bradley wanted to join the police force when he graduated from high school.

"Every time he talked about his job, he was alway gleaming," said Duke Wilson.

While he had a passion for the badge, his wife and his kids were his life.

"I love spending time with his family.  He has a beautiful wife and two kids that think the world of him," Wilson said.

Centennial High School will be honoring Jones for his service during all games this week.  They will have a moment of silence before each game and will be collecting donations for the family.

According to his fellow officers, a vigil will be held on Friday to remember Jones at the location where he was killed.  A time has not been set.

Wilson tells ABC 15 the funeral is set for Saturday.
