Employees shocked, saddened after gas station clerk shot and killed by suspect

GLENDALE, AZ - Glendale police were called out to the AM/PM gas station at 99th Avenue and Glendale for an early morning shooting.

Witnesses called 911 after they saw a man shoot a store clerk.

“He came outside and was on a smoke break,” said Bob Swadley, the victim’s boss.

Glendale Police are identifying the 26-year-old victim as Daniel Scott White. Police says the shooter went into the convenience store to purchase gas. He came out to fill up before getting in his car. Police say he drove up to the front of the store.

“He came up to Scott, raised his gun. He put the gun down and walked closer to Scott. He then shot at his face. Scott went down. The suspect fired a few more shots,” said Swadley.

Police say White was shot multiple times and died on scene.

Police are still searching for a motive and believe the shooter is the same suspect connected to the shooting death of a tow truck driver in Buckeye on Sunday, however, they are still working to confirm.

They also believe the shooter may be the same suspect involved in a chase with police that ended Monday morning with police killing the suspect near the US 60.

White leaves behind a wife and 3-year-old child.

The AM-PM gas station where White worked has set up a donation box to help raise money for the family.
