Department of Public Safety officials say two people are dead after a collision on the Loop 101 in the West Valley Tuesday night.
Authorities said the accident happened around 6:15 p.m. on the southbound Loop 101 between Northern and Glendale Avenues.
Witnesses told police a pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed was merging from the HOV lanes of the freeway to the far right lane when it hit a white SUV.
The 53-year-old male driver of the pickup and his 15-year-old passenger were both ejected from the truck.
Authorities said the driver died from his injuries, the teenager suffered a broken leg.
The 32-year-old female driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in her car was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
