GLENDALE, AZ - Hockey insiders tell ABC15 that the Phoenix Coyotes have landed a new owner.
Sources tell us that Greg Jamison, the former owner of the San Jose Sharks is set to take over the team.
National Hockey League officials deny that a deal for new ownership has been struck.
Coyotes personnel would not comment on the matter, dismissing the early reports as wild speculation.
The NHL took over ownership of the team to keep the Coyotes out of bankruptcy.
The team still has the worst average attendance in the league, and have been losing money for years.
Fans outside Glendale's Jobing.Com Arena said they hope the team would see a resurgence under new ownership.
"I think like anything, it is going to take time to become a hockey town. I sure hope they stay here because we get to come down to where it's warm and watch the game here," Bill St. Croix said as he waited for the stadium to open for Tuesday's game.
Sources say the team and the league will make an announcement after they return from a week-long road-trip at the end of February.
