GLENDALE, AZ - After four long months of no hockey in the Valley, the Phoenix Coyotes are back on the ice.
Day 1 of camp begins Monday morning ahead of the team's first game Saturday in Dallas.
The 'Yotes are coming off their best season in the Valley and some say they're in a good starting position, despite a tough schedule.
Based on the team's minimal roster turnover, depth and discipline-based system, some in the sports world predict a fast start to the season.
Nonetheless with just 48 games, there's no room for error said Coyotes Captain Shane Doan.
The puck drops for the first time at Jobing.com Arena at 8 p.m. Sunday and Goalie Mike Smith said he's ready for it.
He said the energy of last year's playoff run is starting to come back to the Valley and he hopes hockey fans join them for the home-opener.
Fans can also watch practice all week in Glendale.
The Coyotes will also hold a scrimmage at 6 p.m. at Jobing.com Arena Wednesday.
It's free and open to the public.
