GLENDALE, AZ - A candlelight vigil for a fallen Glendale police officer is planned for Wednesday night.
The vigil for Officer Bradley Jones will be held at 6 p.m. at the Glendale Public Safety Memorial at Civic Center Plaza on W. Glenn Drive.
The public is invited to attend and honor Jones who died Saturday.
He was shot at an apartment complex near 75th and Glendale avenues while responding to a call Friday night.
Police said it all started when a probation officer contacted Glendale police to go with him to meet 20-year-old Ryan Heisler at the complex.
While meeting with Heisler, a struggle ensued and Jones radioed to other officers for assistance.
The suspect then allegedly pulled out a weapon and fired at Jones seriously wounding him, according to authorities.
Jones died from his wounds a little after midnight, surrounded by family, friends and fellow officers.
Glendale police say he was with the department for four years. Jones, 26, is survived by his wife and two children.
