Mark Woodruff's family pleads for answers in murder mystery

GLENDALE, AZ - The Glendale Police Department is working around the clock to solve a murder mystery.  The victim's children hope someone with answers will come forward.

"He was just a very loving dad," Zachary Woodruff said about his father. His voice showed the emotions he tried to keep in check after learning his dad was shot to death Tuesday morning.

"We're still in shock and numb, you know," he said.

The crime happened just outside the home where Zachary and his sister Marcy grew up.

"All of our childhood memories revolve around this house," Zachary said.

72-year-old Mark Woodruff was found in his car.  It was still running in the driveway.

"Just to know this happened here really taints our memory of our childhood home in a way that's unfathomable, hard to put into words," Zachary said.

Police believe Woodruff was leaving his job as overnight custodian at Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church, where he had worked for decades.

"My dad did nothing to deserve this, there's no possible way," Marcy said.

Woodruff's children hope you can help catch whoever did this.

"Any little information that anyone has would be invaluable for them and for us and to the rest of our family and the friends my dad had," Marcy said.
