PD: 2 teens injured in crash after Glendale home invasion

GLENDALE, AZ - Two suspects are in the hospital after crashing a stolen car they used to flee the scene of a home invasion in Glendale early Monday.

Glendale police Sgt. Brent Coombs said that around 5 a.m. two 16-year-old males got into a home near 47th Drive and Northern Avenue.

Coombs said the teens parked their stolen vehicle and walked into the neighborhood where they got into the home through a window and held up the residents, a male and two females, at gunpoint.

The suspects took items from the home and fled on foot, Coombs said.

The residents called police and officers arriving at the scene noticed a vehicle leaving an apartment complex with its lights off at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle crashed a short time later and both suspects were taken into custody.

An ABC15 crew said the vehicle crashed into an apartment where a woman was sleeping in a bed against the wall where the car struck.

They were taken to a local hospital to be treated for the injuries they sustained in the accident, according to Coombs.
