BUCKEYE, AZ - Some Buckeye residents were alerted Friday to boil their drinking water as samples of E. coli bacteria were found, the Valencia Water Company says.
Company customers are being urged to not drink the water without boiling it first until further notice. The water company also says they are increasing chlorination of the water supply temporarily and flushing to water system.
One sample was found from a well source and the other in a distribution system, the water company says.
The Valencia Water Company says the contamination could have occurred from increased run-off entering the system, a break in the pipe or improperly treating the water.
The company anticipates solving the problem within 24 hours and will notify customers then.
