TONOPAH, AZ - Authorities served a warrant Tuesday morning at a home in Tonopah after about 40 dogs were reported being neglected and mistreated.
Sgt. Brandon Jones with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said 48-year-old Mark Robinson was arrested on animal cruelty charges near 367th Avenue and Indian School Road. Neighbors tell us they've know about the abuse for awhile and have reported it to the law enforcement.
"I feel bad for Mark, but I'm relieved for the dogs," said neighbor Donna Earley.
About 16 puppies and 24 full-grown dogs were found malnourished with no water and no food at Robinson's home, Jones said.
Investigators only took 27 animals from the house. Ten were allowed to stay because they condition wasn't as bad as the others.
The dogs also had tick disease and were treated at the house before they were taken away.
