BUCKEYE, AZ - Authorities are working a case Friday near Buckeye after receiving a tip that a man was selling dogs heavily infected with ticks.
According to Maricopa County Sheriff's Lieutenant Brandon Jones, the man's property is located on MC 85 near 195th Avenue.
Air15 video showed several MCSO vehicles at the property around 12:30 p.m.
A detective answered the 85-year-old man's ad in the newspaper by posing as a person who wanted to buy a dog, Jones said.
The detective then reportedly did notice the labradoodles he was selling were heavily infected with ticks and not cared for.
Deputies took four adult and five puppy labradoodles away from the property to Palm Glen Vet Center for medical care, Jones said. The dogs were so infected by ticks, they had little coat remaining.
According to Jones, the dogs will be cared for at First Avenue Jail until they can be placed for adoption.
