TONOPAH, AZ - The 9-year-old who was shot in Tonopah Wednesday was pronounced dead at the hospital Thursday morning, according to Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
The child was reportedly hunting and target shooting in the area on Wednesday when he was hit with a stray bullet from a handgun.
The shooter was identified as a 15-year-old, but the shooting is said to be accidental.
The victim was taken home after calling 911 and then flown to Phoenix Children's Hospital where he died Thursday.
MCSO says no charges have been filed yet.
