BUCKEYE, AZ - A Valley high schooler, who starred in a video submission for a Katy Perry contest, was recently invited by the pop star to attend the American Music Awards.
In their attempt to create the best music video using Perry's song "Roar," Verrado High School in Buckeye showcased Megan Squire , a senior born with a learning disability who had become an inspiration on their campus.

Although the video did not win the contest to receive a live concert , Perry invited the teen and her family to join her at the AMAs on Sunday.
"I'm super excited," said Megan.
The entire Squire family, including Megan's sister who lives in Utah, were flown out to Los Angeles on Friday.
The family attended the event with Perry, who planned to have a special performance, according to the AMAs' website .
"For someone like Katy Perry to tell her that she's amazing in somewhat surreal," said Megan's mother, Kimberly.
