Manhunt on for wrong-way driver in W. Valley

BUCKEYE, AZ - Department of Public Safety officials say they are still searching for two individuals after a wrong-way driver and three others fled a vehicle Friday.

According to a Saturday update from DPS, two of the four individuals have been taken into custody.

DPS spokesman Bart Graves said officers started pursuing the suspect's vehicle around 3:30 p.m. after reports that a vehicle was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of SR 85 in Buckeye.

Graves said the vehicle nearly hit a Buckeye police officer head-on.

DPS officials said the car eventually stopped and four people ran from the vehicle.

Graves said Friday DPS officers are currently working with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and Goodyear police to search the area.

Two more individuals are still being sought.
