Police search for suspect after tow truck driver shot, killed in Buckeye

BUCKEYE, AZ - A tow truck driver was shot and killed in Buckeye Sunday afternoon, right near the city's police station.

The shooting happened around 1 p.m. near MC85 and Apache Road.

Witnesses tell ABC15 they heard several gunshots and saw a white tow truck leave the scene with a sedan on the truck's flatbed.

The tow truck was located in a Goodyear neighborhood and SWAT officers began searching for a suspect.

Witnesses said the victim found lying in the street was wearing a yellow vest and had a notebook. One woman reportedly ran out of a nearby business and covered the victim's body with a sheet.

Police have not released the name of the shooting victim.

Authorities say there hasn't been a murder in Buckeye in over two years.
